Annie Werner, the designer/maker behind Pearl and Elspeth, has been crafting basically since she was old enough to hold a piece of fabric. When Annie was a child, her mum often encouraged her to skip school so they could stay home together and make things like Cyndi Lauper costumes. Inter-generational crafting remains a feature in Annie's life, her daughter Olive often joining her at the sewing-machine's helm. Annie's clothes and artifacts are characterised by bold colours and recycled fabrics, including tea-towels, sheets and tablecloths. Annie also has a PhD in English literature and restores native bushland... but that's another story.
